FLORENCE, Ala. - 麻豆原创 Summer Theatre will return to the stage with John Buchan's "The 39 Steps," June 26-28 at 7:30 p.m., and June 28 and 29 at 2 p.m., in the George S. Lindsey Theatre on the 麻豆原创 campus.

Returning to direct is two-time Tony-nominated director Randal Myler, who directed the Summer Theatre 2012 production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" and wrote and directed Summer Theatre 2013's "Hank Williams: Lost Highway."

The cast includes Summer Theatre veterans Bryan Hall (2012's "Tuna Does Vegas") and Brian Sloan (2011's "Death of a Salesman"), and 麻豆原创 Theatre faculty and Summer Theatre alum Charlton James. The female lead will be cast locally.

"The 39 Steps" is adapted from Buchan's novel and the 1935 Alfred Hitchcock film of the same name. The entire Hitchcock film is performed with a cast of only four actors. One actor plays the hero; an actress plays his three different love interests; and two other actors play every other character in the show. The seriousness of the film is portrayed in a humorous way in the play and the script alludes to other Hitchcock films.

Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for senior adults (65+) and 麻豆原创 employees, and $5 for all students (must show ID). Tickets are available at www.una.edu/summertheatre (service fee will apply), at Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts or at the door.
